Pool Rules

Hamhead's Office Pool consists of 6 separate pools:

1.       Weekly Pool

2.       Digit Pool

3.       Season Pool

4.       Survivor Pool

5.       Margin Pool

6.       Pick 5 Pool

1. Weekly Pool: The object of this pool is to have the most correct picks each week. This pool costs $5.00 per week and the winner will be determined by the person(s) having the most correct picks. If there is a tie between 2 or more people, there will be a tiebreaker system in effect. This tiebreaker will be the Total Points for the Monday Night Football Game. The person coming closest to the Total Points will be the winner. If after this, there is still a tie, then the pool for that week will be divided equally amongst the 2 (or more) tied players. The number of paid players will determine the amount of winnings to be paid out. The weekly pool winner will receive seventy-five (75) percent of that week’s pot minus two (2) $5.00 squares for the Super Bowl pool. Twenty (20) percent will go towards the Season Pool and the remaining five (5) percent will go towards pool overhead.

Internet Pick Sheet: There will be a form located on the website that will allow you to enter your picks via the Internet. This is the preferred method. This of course will require you to have access to the Internet. If you are able to read these rules I will assume you have internet access. You may also e-mail your picks directly to picks @ hamhead dot com.

All picks must be submitted by 12:00 p.m. (Eastern) Saturday. In the event of a Saturday or Thursday game all picks must be submitted no later than 9:00 p.m. (Eastern) the day prior. Picks can be submitted and changed right up until the weekly deadline. The last picks received will be the ones entered into the pool.

If you have paid in advance for the whole season and you fail to submit picks by the deadline, "random" picks drawn by the computer will be entered for you. This method will assure that you are still "in the game" for that week and for the season pool. All information (including weekly picks) will be stored on the website. If you pay week to week and fail to get your picks in then you are SOL. All the more reason to pay in advance!

It is each player’s responsibility to ensure that their picks are correct. Please review the summary page after submitting your picks for proper name and pick selection.

2. Digit Pool: The objective of this pool is to be the first one to use all digits 0 through 9, by using the last number from the weekly score of the team you select during the regular season. There will be a one time entry fee of $5.00 for this pool.

How it works:

      1. Player chooses an NFL Team.
      2. Each week, the last digit from that teams score is removed from the digital pool.
      3. The first player to use all 10 digits will be the winner.

Example:

Player picks the New York Giants as their team:

The first week, the Giants score 14 points; the number 4 is removed from the pool.

The second week, they score 21 points; the 1 is removed…etc.

This pool will be open until the end of week four.

If more than one team completes the use of all ten digits in the same week, the winnings will be divided equally amongst them.

In the event no team uses all ten digits; the first team(s) using 9 digits will be the winner(s) and so on.

3. Season Pool: Entry into this pool is automatic through weekly pool participation and there is no fee. The winner of this pool will be the person(s) who pick the most correct winners throughout the NFL regular season. In the event of a tie, a tiebreaker system will be used. The first tiebreaker will be the best winning percentage, if needed the second tiebreaker will be the lowest Monday Night Football point differential (average) for the season. If after this, there is still a tie, then the pot will be divided equally amongst the 2 (or more) tied players. The season pool winner will receive the cumulative total of the twenty (20) percent taken from each weekly pool.

4. Survivor Pool: The premise of the pool is simple: A pool member picks only one team each week. If that team loses, they move on to the next week. If that team wins or ties you're out. Once a player picks a team, that team cannot be used by that member again. The pool continues until only one member is left. There is a one time entry fee of $25.00 for this pool.

5. Margin Pool:  The Margin Pool is similar to the Survivor Pool in some ways. With the Margin Pool, you have a one-time pool fee of $25.00, and you pick one team each week during the regular season. Once a pool member picks a team, they cannot pick that team again. If that team wins, the winning margin, or margin of victory is added to their season point total. If that team loses, then the winning margin is subtracted from their season point total. The pool member that has the highest point total at the end of the regular season is the winner. Total wins will be used as a tiebreaker if necessary.

The Margin Pool is different from the Survivor Pool in that in the Margin Pool, you play the entire season; you are NOT eliminated with a loss.  It is the type of pool that you are never really out of it until the end. You could be in first place, and wham, your team loses by 28 points, and another player’s team wins by 35 points.

6. Pick 5  Pool In the Pick 5 Pool the players select 5 games from the week's schedule and are awarded points based on an escalating scale.

1 win = 2 points

2 wins = 4 points

3 wins = 6 points

4 wins = 8 points

5 wins = 10 points

There is a one-time entry fee of $25.00 for this pool. The pool member that has the highest point total at the end of the regular season is the winner.
